Need a new Lathe Stand

tom norton

>After watching a Raffan video I noticed,For the first time, that my lathe is too low. I guess I I have noticed in the past it was not quite right but...

Anyway, I have an older Rockwell/Delta model on the original stand with a box of sand underneath. But I was wondering if anyone has a plan for a unit that has some heft to it? Maybe a plywood box affair with sand ballast?

Also anyone ever make some type of bed extension for turning longer spindles?

Thanks

I guess I am getting bit by the Turning Bug!!

>Put some spacer blocks between the lathe and stand. You can try various heights until you find want you like and it makes cleaning a log easier. Once you have the height then dssign the stand.

>Actually, I set my lathe feet on 2x4's and was so happy with the height that I left it that way. More time for turning!
