>Damn, they must need some oil if they're that loud. Maybe you smelled the smoke.

I've seen it.

>I was at the St. Louis Art Fair and saw his stuff. Very nice. The resin adds a unique look for sure. I'm not sure it's my cup of tea but it is impressive anyway. I have to think that stabilizing wood with resin is a neat trick to give an interesting look while at the same time actually making it easier (more reliable) to turn. Clever indeed.

>Just looked at a few of his pieces last Thursday at a craft gallery here in Vermont. Most of the pieces I've seen are half to 2/3 wood, usually burl of some sort, and the rest made up of epoxy, metal foils and other bright colored stuff. They are beautiful, but with very glassy finishes, and very far away from the softer sheen I usually like on wood.

In person, its sometimes not very obvious that there's any wood at all, since the colors and the shine so dominate the look of his work. He's been contacted about demonstrating at local and regional symposia, but has no interest in doing so.

Anyhow, gorgeous stuff ...

>I have seen his work in person. Although superbly done, it was to "plasticy" looking for my taste. His prices seem kinda low for the amount of work that goes into them.

My 2 cents.

>Hi Sue,

I've seen his stuff in the Frog Hollow Craft Centers in Middlebury and Burlington, and for a while he had items in the Stowe Craft Gallery, too. Stowe now has some beautiful thin wall hollow forms from another fellow, who also uses metal foils and colored epoxy, as well as wood stains -- can't remember his name.
