Early Christmas - Gloat

Raymond Overman

>Well, my wonderful wife let me have my Christmas present early and told me to go get the chainsaw I've been talking about for a month or so. I'm now the proud owner of a Husqvarna 350 with an 18" bar. I got a good deal on it from a local dealer and though I had to pay sales tax, I feel better about my purchase since I'll have someone close for any warranty work.

Unfortunately, it's raining today in South Carolina so I couldn't get out for a test run. I look forward to getting into some pecan that's been waiting to be turned into blanks as soon as the weather clears. Until then, I've got some time to read the manual.

Thanks to everyone who had input on my earlier chainsaw discussion.

>I'm in the market, do you mind sharing how much it cost?

I'm about ready to pull the trigger on a Stihl 250C with a 18" bar, how do these two saws compare?

>Raymond,

Congrats on your new saw. Funny how we can get so excited about a new tool that seems so far removed from the lathe....but I tell you, there is no better feeling than that of looking at a fresh cut pile of turning blanks that you spent the afternoon sawing up with your new saw! Ah, that smell of gas and oil mix that has permiated your clothes, and the piles of chainsaw shavings....my friends think I'm insane....but I swear, it's heavenly! Have a blast with the new saw...and make sure you have plenty of sealer for the blanks!

>Congrats, Raimond, now just be safe, and you'll be able to cut and turn all that beautiful wood for a long long time.

Have fun and take care

>tho I'm not a real big fan of chainsaws I can understand your excitement of getting one, and especially a Husky-vaaaa naaah.

I suppose you've read the one about the Frenchman (up home the butt of al our jokes are the Candaian Frenchman)(which makes me wonder who is the butt of the FC's jokes) who bought a new chainsaw right?

Have fun, and BE CAREFUL!! If you're not experiance with one, and even if you are they can be dangerous and deadly. Wear you hearing protection and face shield.

True story: A student somewhere in Appalacia begged his teacher not to fail him because if he failed his daddy would take away his chainsaw. I've always remembered that story for some reason.
