Recent Piece

Joel Hunnicutt

>I've been so busy doing shows that I haven't had a chance to edit and post any recent work. This is a copy of a water jar shape in soft maple dyed with transtint. The piece is rather large. It is 24 inches high and about 15 inches at it's largest diameter.

I am happy to say that it now resides in a private collection in San Francisco

That's really great! I love the coloring you got there. Mike hit it on the head, it looks like frosted glass to me.

>Very impressive Joel! I especially like the monochromatic aspect of this piece. It is very well done, and I know someone is a very happy owner.

Should I just keep quiet?

Todd O. Cronkhite Maine Native in Florida Exile :

>Joel,

I don't like it. Sorry, but I don't. Looks like a red prgnent bowling pin to me. I do like the neck tho. I viewed this piece last night and considered responding or not all day today. Looked at it again tonight, and still don't like it. I think it's the "All Red" thing that kills it for me. Just don't look natural. I'd try the same shape in some natural colors and see if that makes it look better.

hope I didn't hurt your feeling Joel as that is not my intent, just trying to give some good, honest and positive feedback to ya'.
