>Here are a couple more bowls with coiling that show a little more what you can do with coiling as an embellishment. This first one is turned from green apricot and purposely tried fast to promote some unusual warping. It's about 7" tall.

>This one is from dry juniper, 10"x4". This not only has the coiling but some beads and a philodren sheath around the top. You can also see where there were deep bark inclusions in the wood. I like this one.
