Talon Jaw choice

>I have a talon chuck with the supplied 2 jaws..they will fit into a dovetail recess for a bowl or platter, they are grooved to help hold, is there any benefit to the #2 smooth jaws..getting ready to send my letter to santa, if there is no benefit, then will look for something else..I use my Talon a lot, and am wanting to get into platters, haven't done one yet, but getting ready..is the smooth jaws just not to leave a mark?...thanks...Dennis

ONE DAY ALL THIS WILL MAKE SENSE TO ME!!!

>Dennis,

The standard Talon chuck takes a slighty deeper recess to hold well. The smooth jaws will allow a recess as shallow as 1/8 inch. The smooth jaw is on my christmas list.

>Dennis,

I have both sets of jaws and don't see any advantage to either one. Spend your money on the step (no.1) or no.3 jaws. I also use the spigot jaws alot.
