Birdhouse instructions

Caleb SG

>Hi folks,

I looked (googled) around for a little while here, but I can't find any instructions on how to turn a bird house. Does anyone know of sites with instructions online?

TIA

I don't know if I can dig it up but I turned one from either American woodworker or fine woodworking. It was an old issue. I turned mine probably 10 years ago. It had segmented sides in the original but I hollowed out a log to get the sides for mine. I'll dig a little tonight and see if I can find that issue if someone else doesn't fine it before I do.

>Never mind. I just had one of my very rare instances when my memory actually worked. It is American Woodworker April 90 issue 13. Andy Barnum made one with stacked rings for the roof, laminated sides and stacked ring for the bottom. I'll be glad to copy the article and send it to you if you'll send me your snail mail address.

Different Birds/different deminsions

Todd O. Cronkhite Maine Native in Florida Exile :

>Caleb,

dunno if you're aware of this or not, fiqure you are, but will post it anyways just in case. If you are trying to attract/house a specific species of bird than you need to be aware of the different deminsions that each bird requires. such things as the size of the "Door", and the height from the door to the "floor" make a big differece to each type of bird.

You can find more info on the subject on various birdhouse building sites. wish I knew on to link to you right off.
