Guess Who.....

Harvey Meyer in Atlanta

>One of us (not me of course)has 3 pieces included in a photo in the Dec 2004 Woodturning Magazine (England publication). Mark Baker did an article reflecting on the AAW Symposium in Orlando and among the photos of pieces that are "pushing back the boundaries" (by famous turners such as Binh Pho, Bob Rosand, Andi Wolf, and others) is a photo of "a trio of segmented vessels". I scanned the page and in the lower right corner you'll see the 3 pieces. The caption doesn't attribute these 3 pieces to anyone - but those of us in the know would know who the "artist" is among us. I guess this artist will be increasing his prices now. Anyone venture a guess as to who the artist is???

>Thanks for posting this, Harvey. I did not know about it, and might have missed it.

I sent an email to Mark Baker to let him know it was my work. He emailed me back saying that somehow the attribution to me was missed in the editing process. He asked if I could send him some bio information an a CD with High Res Photos of my work on it for a inclusion in a future issue. He is also sending me 6 free copies of this issue.

I could hardly sleep last night when I saw your posting.

Thanks again

Mark

>You're on your way buddy. Just don't forget us little guys when you're basking in the big time. Do I foresee a "Segmented Vessels DVD" in the future?

>I always remember the bumper sticker that says

"remember that the toes you step on on the way up are connected to the asses you might have to kiss later"

I don't know about the big time - but I am thinking of growing a goatee and borrowing Keith Tompkin's Beret.

Actually I was approached at the beginning of the summer about doing a Segmented Turning DVD. I am mulling that one over. I am thinking of doing one along the lines of :Segmented Turning for the Everyday Woodturner" - targeted to those guys that always say to me "Oh, I could never do that" or "I don't have the patience for that".

Just not sure if I want to do all the prep work involved with making one.
