Whew, I feel funky!

Whew, I feel funky!

Mike Schwing from Md.

>Had an endoscopy this morning, been suffering from heartburn. Turns out everything looks totally normal but I feel pretty loopy from the anesthesia! It has been nearly 20 years since I had a drink of alcohol but if I can recall correctly, this is what a buzz feels like. Had planned on spending the remainder of the day here at home turning, but suddenly the couch sounds much better.

>Mike, I understand, and hope you will feel better soon. Just take it easy for a while until all that anesthesia wears off.

>Hi Mike, Glad everything was normal. It seems everybody gets heart burn in the U.S. Both my kids and myself are on "acid pump" inhibitors to reduce acid. Boy I'm glad they work very well for all of us. You are smart not to work with any machines today. Stay well. Alan in Md.

Know how you feel. I had dental surgery Tuesday. they put me under. I have absolutely no recollection of how I got from their office to my bed. My secretary picked me up and took me home. I'm pretty sure she posed me in funny situations and took pictures to blackmail me. I sure wouldn't have known.

>Hey mike,

One thing which might help with heartburn, after eating never lie down or go to sleep with an hour of eating. I find it very hard to resist the parasympathetic stimulation(techie term for tiredness after meals). Someone I love is a dietician, and has helped me beat most of my heartburn problems. Alcohol, caffiene and stress are the biggest causes.

>John, just a little while ago I called my mother to tell her I was fine and she laughed as apparently I had already done so! No recollection. I know the doctor came in to visit me, and I know I remember what he told me, but damned if I can find it inside of my head. Can't remember leaving the office, getting dressed, etc...

Last time I had a memory lapse was when I ran head on into a car on my bicycle doing 30mph downhill.

>Mike,

I am glad you are OK. I have a terrible stomach. Couple of years ago, I had pains that radiated up my neck, and down my arms and legs (makes you think you are having an heart attack). Ended up that I have a Hiatal Hernia and my Gall Bladder was not working to boot. The took out the Gall Bladder a couple of years ago and I have to take some of high end acid blockers, etc.

While they were diagnosing my problems, I too had to have an Endoscopy, but I had quite the opposite experience. I was laying on the table, and felt the first pin prick, and had time to make some wise ass remark - then lights out. I do recall choaking when they were puting the scope in (when I told the doctor later, he said, "Well, next time we will knock you out harder".). Next thing I knew, I was waking up in the recovery room. They told me to make sure someone came to pick me up. I was in there an hour, my wife showed up, I got dressed, and walked outside with her. Felt 100%. It may have been foolish, but I told my wife it would be stupid to leave my truck at the Hospital and have to come back for it, so I drove it home. Felt great all day (a little sore throat is all).

So much for my blabbing on.

Anyway, I am glad you are OK.

Mark
