Denatured Alcohol in Canada *LINK*

Harvey Brooks, Victoria, BC

>After a long and sometimes frustrating search, I have found a source for denatured alcohol in Canada.

Richelieu Hardware distributes a Mohawk product labelled "Shellac Reducer" that used to be labelled Den-Alco which is denatured alcohol.

Their product # is M6500057 and it can be found in their catalog under "coatings and finishes" - not "solvents and additives" - go figure?

Richelieu has about 25 distribution centers across Canada so there should be one fairly close.

Hope this helps.

Thank you Harvey.

>Hi Harvey,

I had no idea where to look in Canada for denatured ethanol alcohol. I figured it had to be available some where. I never thought to look under finishes. My searches were in the solvent category. Now I know to look under finishes at other suppliers. Now I will be able to help my friends to the North when they ask me where to find denatured ethanol alcohol.

>Thanks for the info. I called the Winnipeg, Manitoba, distributor. Richeleau has 3 gallons in Montreal and 2 in Victoria! The retail price wasn't available to me but I managed to get a range; about $30 Canadian a gallon, plus or minus. Seems high but there doesn't seem to be an option.
