>I have not taken one of these apart yet, but what I would use is called a bearing separator. It consists of 2 thick, hard steel plates held side be side by 2 long bolts passing thru them. The inside is counterbored so that the plate can slip into a small space between the bearing and armature. I then place it in an arbor or hydraulic press and push the shaft out. A bench vise could also be used to support the separator and using a brass punch or piece of aluminum, or even hard wood on the end of the shaft, hit that with a heavy hammer, not the shaft itself. I will take a picture of a small bearing separator and post it, a little later.
