new/old shop

>Finally getting the remodeled shop into production and here is the first turning in several weeks. "Zebrano 4 Foot bowl"is actually 16" square and slightly less than 3/16" thick with bottom suspended 1/4" above counter surface. Now I remember why I like green wood-this nasty dry dusty wood left a sanding dust layer all over the clean shop even with the collector at the lathe running- time to order the ceiling mounted JDS I have been researching for Santa!

>Jamie,

May I suggest that you review the information regarding dust collection on Bill Pentz' website (see link below). The money may be better spent (from a health perspective) by improving your existing system.

>Excellent! Zebra wood is some dusty stuff but it sure finishes nice.

I have been wanting to do this but don't know how to get started. I have a big 60 Euro piece of cocobolo waiting for me when I'm ready.

>Hi Jamie,

That's really neat! It really gives the impression of "fluid wood". I saw it and the first thing that popped into my mind was Audrey Hepburn. Maybe because you piece looks so graceful and elegant?

Thanks for the pic, I know what you mean about dry/wet turning!
