help with dust collector!

>I have recently remodeled my shop and am looking at overhead dust collectors- does anyone have experience with JDS Air-Tech equipment? Local Woodcraft also has Jet and Delta, but JDS has better quiet rating and lifetime warranty.

>Hi Jamie,

I don't have that one, but I do have the Jet 1000B model. It seems to work as advertised.

But I was surprised by the noise produced. For some reason I was expecting it to be quieter. It is not super loud by any means. And I usually run it after I have left the shop. It has a very nice remote and a timer on it.

It is well worth the money imho.

Best wishes,

Dave

>Hi Jamie -

I have the JDS unit and I like it. I can't accurately compare its noise level to other units, since all the other units I've ever been around were in different rooms, but it SEEMS quieter. Also, for what it's worth, I called JDS after I bought mine and wound up talking to a guy who was very knowledgeable and VERY helpful in discussing where (in the room) to hang the thing for best collection.

Good choice...

>I have had one for about a year. The noise it makes is relative. Its a fan, after all, and at high speed they ALL make noise. Having a dust-free shop it well worth it.

>Jamie,

About a year ago, with some respiratory issues, I became concerned with dust in my small shop. First think was a dust filter and my research showed that the JDS was the best, and quietest. There are several models (sizes) to choose from although local distributors usually offer a standard size that is adequate. I have had nothing but excellent service from mine and it makes a huge difference in my shop, although not dustless as one offered.

I would also recommend a site www.billpentz.com who has done more research on dust collection than is allowed by law. It is very helpful in considering a dust collection system.

Have the horses stopped running?

>Racing season is over, but I retired from the show horse photo business last Oct. and had hoped to have more time to turn, golf, fish, but it hasn't happened! I am picking up the JDS unit at Woodcraft tomorrow on the way to a craft show in Indianapolis.
