>Thise piece is from a walnut root. I picked it up the same day as I got the maple and turned it Monday.
10"X6" very thin walls. Watco and buffed.
I sure am loving my Kelton hollowing rig with the laser.

>That is a very nice form Dick. I think it is a great candidate for a fitted lid that follows the shape right up to a point. (I've seen one like that recently somewhere).
I love my Kelton rig, too. Been turning end grain box elder bowls all afternoon and the hollowing rig is definitely the easiest way to remove end grain material from the interior of the bowl.
The Kelton shear scraper, which fits into the rig, is an absolutely amazing tool, well worth the money.
I like this one best.

I like simple forms and the walnut vase has it in spades.
