>Has anyone made bottle stoppers using these blanks from Woodcraft? How did the stuff turn? Also, did you like it? Last question, how did you hold the blank while turning.

I ended up with a large number of these stopper blanks. So, I have to make some. Just looking for advice.

THANKS!!!

>The chucking system you need depends on what kind of stopper base you're planning on using:

- Cork...uses a 3/8" hole and dowel, like in this how-to link: http://www.yoyospin.com/stop/

- Berea "All-Chrome" stopper base has a smaller screw and uses this mandrel, held in a drill chuck:

- The PSI Chrome Cone (PS-1) stopper base (same as the Craft Supplies "Deluxe stopper") needs a 3/8" hole and can use a mandrel like this: http://www.pennstateind.com/graphics/PK-BS1-M.jpg sold by PSI

>LOL, That's too funny. That's what they turn like, too. That's kind of like the people that buy Evian water.....=o)

>I turned it and used my Vicmarc with small jaws to hold it as the stem is strong enough. Keep your tools sharp and is you've turned corian before it's similar [see post below]. For finishing I used micro-mesh up to 12000, the same that I use for acrylics. The finished product is OK but I feel the same about this as the acrylics. Too plasticy and artificial, I only do them by special order.
