White ash bowl

Mike Schwing from Md.

>About 14" in diameter. Turned some time ago, on my old lathe, just don't think I ever took a pic of it. It'll probably disappear over Christmas so I thought I'd get a picture or two. Finished with Waterlox, so it is more yellow than I'd like. Very, very large white ash tree, and this was near the base, where it was all curly/quilted. Comments welcomed.

>Very nice piece of wood and flattering shape Mike, Ash can have some real nice shimmering in the curly grain, I am partially to ash, turns and finishes well, and looks good in small boxes or weedpots.

Have fun and take care

>my, but isn't that special. What a wonderful bowl. I really like the grain you discovered in that wood. I also like the form of this bowl.

As others have stated, I also really enjoy turning ash. I also like the shimmering grain that can occur.
