>I know this is going to open a BIG can of worms but here I go. What is the best way to get a good finish with BLO (Boiled linseed oil)? I've never used this finish until last night. I just thought I would try it and see how it turned out.
>One finish I like is to sand the bowl to 220, flood with BLO and wipe off the excess after 15-20 min. Then let it dry for about 4-5 days. After that, I wipe on 7-10 coats of Arm-R-Seal varnish, letting each coat dry 1-2 days and sanding between coats with 600 grit paper. Let the last coat harden for 3-4 days and it's done.
Be careful with rags soaked in BLO. They can start a fire in your shop!
