Dragonfly bowl

Molly Winton

>I've been wanting to use a dragonfly motif as a design for some time. My husband gave me this intertwining idea when we were discussing a different piece. This Quina bowl measures 7 3/4" diameter by 1 3/4" deep. The rim is scorched and then carved. I branded where the rim meets the bead, since the scorching was not able to come right up to the bead. It is finished with filtered walnut oil.

>Molly,

Cool bowl and very nice dragonflies.

Are you still doing the primitive scenes too?

>Molly,

I really like the way that you've combined scorching, carving, and texturing in this piece (as well as many of the other fine pieces you've posted pics of here and on WOW). It's really beautiful!

If it's not too much trouble, I'd love to see a side, and/or bottom view.

See ya around,

Dominic

>Molly,

That looks fantastic! As an amateur turner I am always keen to learn new finishing techniques. Can I ask how you scorch and also how you brand?

Thanks for any help you can give.
