WOOD GLOAT

Ben

>Hi Guys and Dolls,

I turned a bowl for a tree-cutting friend I know. He called me and said that he had a burled plum tree that he just cut. Here is a photo of it, looks better in person. There are burls all the way around it and small ones on the limbs.

Now the fun part cutting it open and seeing what is inside? Any advice on how to cut it will be greatly appreciated. I have a 20" bandsaw and a 20" chainsaw.

Happy Turning.

>Hi,

This is the bowl I gave my friend. It is sycamore around 8" diameter. I was messing around with a torch and a grinder and this is what came from it. This is the seed of my good fortune.

>Plum is one of my favorite woods. The last one I got came as a result of a walk that my wife insisted that I accompany her on. Unfortunately, she won't go for a walk with me on garbage collection night anymore because she is afraid that I will make her help carry another tree home!
