Question on Jet 18 BS

>I've just moved my saw to a side of the shop where I have a spare 220 outlet. The motor can be wired for either 110 or 220. Does the switch require any changes? My manual shows the diagram for wiring the motor but doesn't address any changes to the switch.

>I've never had to re-wire the switch on any of my equipment (many different manufacturers) that allowed the voltage re-wire to the motor. Not that there couldn't be some out there that require it though. If in doubt, consult the manufacturer directly (their service # is in the book) to be sure.

[Long Answer: Jet uses double throw switches on their dual voltage tools. That way you can switch voltages without having to change out a switch. Just follow the wiring diagram in your book. Remember that you'll need a 220 rated plug.]

As long as the switch has two poles, so that both wires are switched, there will be no problem. Twice the voltage to a motor means half the current flow, so the capacity of the switch contacts is not an issue.
