>Terrible thing. This is an Oregon big leaf maple trunk, about 18' long, almost totally burl. It was sold whole, not to me. This was in my Inbox at work this morning.
It is not even 6am and I'm being tortured, a good 2 hours before my boss arrives. Figured it was only fair to share my pain with my friends.

>While I don't have any experience with big leaf maple here in VA, my experience has been that a tree with that much rot has a good chance of not having sound burls. Of course it is not always true but I wouldn't have risked many $$ buying that stick on the left.
