>I scored some nice 100 year old apple from a house yesterday. The tree was about 18-20" in diameter and that section went up about 20-25 feet. I believe it was apple, the owner wasn't sure, the tree was completely dead when I got it. The wood smells like apple wood. Anyone have another idea? The bark looked like appple or cherry.

Not all apple smells like apples though. Some of the crabapple I've turned had no smell at all. The red delicious I turn smells exactly like fresh apples when it is turned wet, but only slightly so when dry.
I'm trying to picture apple and cherry bark that look similar and I can't make that work in my head. None of the apple or cherry I've worked with look at all like each other.
How about a picture of the bark?

The only dead apple I scored, the bark did not look like cherry bark, it is smooth more or less and had many holes made by woodpeckers or sap suckers.
