If my house burned down

Maple burl, natural edge, mighty thin turned, scorched and dunked in watco till it was pretty much translucent. About 6" tall.
Very curious about what y'all think. Don't have a clue what made me burn it like that. I just looked at it and said "fire! fire! fire!" heh, heh..."fire! "

>Tell ya a secret. I was only going to scorch the interior and finish the exterior normally, but this work is so thin that the scorching went all the way through! Of course, no sanding was going to remove that from the exterior, so with my choices made for me, I just went for it.
Lesson one - wood burns, lesson two - thin wood burns right through.

I'm not kidding here. I may be going out on a limb here, but I think this is one of your best pieces!
I really like the shape and the overall feel of this. The artful combination of the translucence and the scorching lend an air of contrast to this piece.
