There are several good webpage creation programs out there. One that comes to mind is "Coffee Cup". Someone else might recommend "Microsoft Front Page" as well. But I'm a Linux/Unix guy so I can't ;-).

If your hosting site supports a server scripting language called PHP, then there is an excellent Gallery management package called exactly that, "Gallery".

I am the webmaster for the Mid South Woodturners Guild as well as my own website, Life Takes A Turn. If you want to look around and have any questions, shoot me a note.

I would also suggest you check out Chris Wright's website, Woodturner's Resource, and Ryan McMullen's site, NeighborWood.Net.

I know I'm leaving out a ton of excellent woodturner websites, and I'm not trying to offend any of them - there are just too many great ones to mention. I'm also not saying these are better than anyone else's, but these 2 are ones where I am sure the woodturner is also the webmaster.

Best of luck with the site and don't spend so much time on it that you turn less often.

Thanks for the tips. Yes, my site is on a Linux server, and infact the hosting site offers Gallery, etc. Thanks for the Coffeecup tip, I will take a look at it. Though I have Frontpage, and this site accepts Frontpage extension, I am not sure that I want mess with the learning curve.

In my day job, I am the server support manager for the parent company for companies like Charbroil (grills) and Zebco (fishing reels and rods) - (www.WCBradley.com). And although my team manages all of the servers for the corperation, including the web infrastructure, that is not the same as building web pages, etc.

We currently use Microsoft websites, but are moving toward Opensource. I personally am a Novell Engineer, and Novell is HUGE into Suse Linux. So, I am moving the Linux direction myself.

Once again thanks for the tips, and believe me, I will not be shy about asking for help.

That's great. I'm looking forward to seeing it and also seeing how your photography changes. I'm a long way from having a personal website but I am working on putting up a site on how to photograph art work. It's going to be tied to the Tenn. Tech web site and I'm meeting with the lady Tuesday to discuss what we can and can't do.

Unfortunatly I'm a computer idiot and have a very hard time learning this stuff. I'm not sure why because I've managed to learn everything else I do on my own but this is really fighting me. It's just not intuitive at all. Fortunately I just bought a new pistol and going to the range and shooting for a while really relaxes me. Jeez that sounds like I go blow things up and want to kill people. No I used to be a serious target shooter and there's just something about the concentration it takes to keep the sites on that little target that takes away the pressures of the rest of world.

They will be installing Dream Weaver on my computer in the next few weeks and I have to learn to use it to modify and update the site. If I have as much trouble as I have with other programs it's going to be interesting.

I'm with Hilton Corp myself. Programming Development Lead for the reservations systems. Which means I write a lot of documents but don't get to code a lot anymore. So working on the webpages keeps the creativity flowing.

You might also see if they support MYSQL. If they do, I wrote a pretty flexible script for displaying the links to others websites that you might be interested in.

I used to be on the US Army Team, and the US National Team (Olympic style rifle shooting) in the late 80's and 90's. One of my friends and teammates was Kurt Fitz-Randolph, who along with his brother, Rod, were All-Americans in Rifle Shooting from Tenn Tech.

Do you go back to the late 80's at Tech?
