Mini Vases

>....and one more.....here's some mini vases that I just love turning. They are addictive. I use the corners from my bowl blanks that could easily be tossed out for these.

I like to have these for shoppers who just want a quick purchase fix : )

Hello Everybody! I figure I've been hanging around WoodCentral for a few years now so I might as well officially post a Bio. I'm Jennifer and I reside in the heart of the Midwest in Indianapolis. You'll usually find me hanging out on the turning side of WoodCentral, but I check the Main forum too. I started woodworking about 25 years ago mostly interested in flatwork; small furniture and other items to use around the home. Then I discovered the lathe and became obsessed with it. I've been turning for about 23 years now. My love and excitement for turning has taken me into the world of teaching and frequent demonstrating. Lots of experimenting with textures, color, burning over the past several years. I've recently begun dabbling in metal clay work and have started incorporating it in to my turnings too. It's another toolbox full of toys! When I'm not turning, I'm hanging out with the love of my life and most honest critic, my husband Clay. In order to keep the lathe spinning and the lights on I spend the other part of my day at an ABC television station directing the evening newscasts.

If you'd like, and will pay for shipping, I'd be happy to send you the corners and stuff from all of the maple burl I've cut up lately. They'll just be burned when the weather changes.

I think these little things are really neat but I don't have the desire to turn them myself.

Nice miniatures. We have ours on display in the kitchen. You are as bad as me with small pieces except its scrolling. Don't throw anything but saw dust.

A bit later, she tapped me on the shoulder and showed me one of her shavings and said I could use that ... as she was smiling and laughing with the other carvers watching this unfold.

I proceeded to chuck that sliver up (actually, I just glued it onto the end of a toothpick I had chucked up as a glue-block) and turn her a plate 3mm wide x <1mm tall complete with decorated rim grooves and a finished bottom . I set it down next to her goblet I had made earlier and said...

"Don't mess with turners, Ma'am"

That's why I tell people that see my shop that I CAN'T shovel out all of those shavings on the floor, wall, ceiling, etc. They're all woodturnings waiting to be made!
