These is a theme in some of your turnings an I think I could pick your work out in a show now, the bowl design you use with the small round smooth cavity set in a large base, the edges look soft and easy to hold. Marble wood, that really has a lovely dark to brown tone, how did you finish it?

Let us know how these thicker wall bowls with different lines inside and out are received.They are along the lines of the birdseye maple bowl I was talking about awhile ago.While people who were familiar with my usual style didn`t like the one I made it sold faster than anything else in the past 3 months.I`d be curious if your experience is the same.

I have sold a few of these "type" bowls so far. I don't see a preference for them over typical thinner walled bowls though? I think they do feel better sometimes in the hand just because of their heft. This marblewood is very dense and heavy...I hope somebody likes enough to take it home!

Nice bowl. I've tried a few of the "heavy" bowls like that, but just never seem to get the proportions right. I really like the look of yours. It looks like it would have good heft and a nice feel to the hand.

Thanks for the nice comments...I'm flattered.

I used Danish Oil on this one and then buffed with all three Beall wheels. I've been trying some different things...and one of them is Velvit Oil.....it's a wipe on and I find it to give a shiner finish after the Beall. This one has a softer look I think because of the Danish Oil.

I do like making this style, I'm not even sure why. I think maybe it's because I like the way they feel so heavy in the hand.
