Sorby bowl scraper

>I just got my latest woodcraft catalog yesterday and there is a 30% off sale on all of the sorby tools. I am considering buying the heavy duty bowl scraper, the blade measures 7" long, 1 1/2" wide and 3/8" thick. The sale price is $70. Has any one else used this tool and is it worth the price? Are there better deals to be had than this? Thanks in advance Jared Herbert

>The price sounds good and Sorby makes good tools, too. It's a nice size solid steady scraper to have on hand.

>I have one and its OK. But it doesn't compare to the Crown 1/2" thick scrapers. THOSE can really hang and have NO vibration whatsoever. Actually, Sorby now has 1/2" thick "extra heavy duty" scrapers (exclusivily for WOodcraft) but I don't think they are included in the 30% off sale.

If you are interested, I'll sell you mine (lightly used) for $50 delivered. Its a right-hand scraper (i.e. the curve is on the right side as you're holding it).

>I stopped by Woodcraft this evening and they said the discount applied to all the Sorby turning tools. I was looking at one of those 1/2" thick scrapers and may go back tomorrow.
