Maple Burl Platter
Jennifer@Indy.USA
>This is another of my recent adventures on the lathe. I bought this blank for dirt cheep at Rockler at one of their many wood clearance sales. It's about 10" in diameter and about 2" high. Finished with Velvit oil and buffed with the Beall.
As I was turning it a little hole opened up exposing a tiny inner burl. I just love the way it adds to the piece. I don't usually "name" my turnings but this one has been dubbed "Peek-a-boo".
For being in the clearance pile it turned out to be a beautiful piece of wood. I think it was accidentally put in the wrong pile : )
Thanks for taking a "peek"!
