Remembder those little blanks you gave me of box elder? I took more of them out of the bag yesterday. A couple of them developed a few deep rose streaks. Its not pink or red, but a beautiful rose color. I assume its rot/decay/mold, similar to spalting. I have turned two of the four which display this coloration into little squat bowls with lids. I am thinking of drilling out the lids of one or two to accept a little clock face(s). The smallest is the most prolifically rose streaked, and drilling out that interesting lid would be a travesty. (Timeless beauty?) So I'll insert a $20.00 bill and give it to myself for Christmas.
