>Here are a sample of some of the birdhouses I've been making. They are about 15" tall. I've been playing with all sorts of different painting techniques as well as different spindle shapes. I've made 10 of them so far. Their fun.
Oh by the way. The blue background is just for Jamie.
The off white birdhouse has snow flakes wood burned into it but you really can't see them very well in this photo. I carved the spiral by hand after cutting the depth with a dove tail saw.

>here are 3 more. I decided I needed some bead practice so I turned the one on the right. The one on the left is Mahagony and holly. The magagony came off a motorcylce crate. It was almost rotten and took considerable care to turn without tearout. I still had problems with it soaking up finish.

BTW, the Scarecrow was looking for a brain. The Tin Man was looking for a heart. Did you ever think about turning a scarecrow. Around here scarecrows seem to be popular item this time of the year.

Your right. See I do need a brain. Actually I'm working on a scarecrow design right now but I'm working so many hours at work all I can do is design. At least for a few more weeks anyway.
