Grizzly Punch/Pen Press

>I also Orderen one of the Grizzly Punches to use as a Pen Press. After seeing how someone had fixed their's up I thought I would do the same, with a couple of small changes. I added a small knob at the front and I turned down a piece of Aliminiun for the top of the press.

>I am flatterd you liked my design for your press.

Why did you choose aluminum for the top piece?

I didn't show it in my picture, but I used a tapered bit for the inside of the "ram"( made of the same high density plastic) to center the tips when pressing.

Bonus benifit of the press. If you remove the ram,it is a good tool to disassemble pens once the pen tip is removed.

>I thought your Idea was Great, I was dissapointed I didn't think of it. I figured Aluminiun would stay smoother, longer, giving me equal pressure and less likely to cause marring.

>Seeing EAGLESC's modification, I went and added a Corian Baseplate and a bolt embedded in Corian for the ram. Used Poly Glue. Trouble getting the photo small enough to show here, it's posted on Penturners...

>I ordered mine on the 24th and got an email tonight that it shipped and will arrive tomorrow. I also just picked up the last closeout Delta Midi at our local Lowes. I guess I jumped in with both feet since I have never used a lathe in my life. I had just started reading about turning pens and was mildly interested when I saw the lathe.
