>You can always stop by Austin on your way to Corpus, and watch the laymakers lie a little - good for a few laughs. There are the Longhorn Caverns if you're into caves, that's west of Austin. There is San Antonio and the Riverwalk, and my favorite - The Alamo..West Texas and Big Bend and miles and miles of more miles. Love that part of the world for a few weeks at a time - no trees though. If you like trees, thats East Texas. Corpus has you covered as far as beaches and babes. Forget Houston - it sucks (live south of there over the horizon). Dallas and Fort Worth are up there with Houston as far as a waste. Basicly the drive between Temple and Corpus is pretty nice if you like senic areas adn lots of spaces and you like to drive. We have about five different types of areas, coastal,hill country, semi-arid, wooded, mountains and flat lands. And the main thing, we still have some folks that know how to be friendly.

>I live in a little sleepy town just outside Corpus but work in Corpus. Been here 30 years ans still can't find anything related to woodworking. There is a turners club but haven't regulated that way yet. When I was youger the fishing was good but a gazillion boats now.

>If you want to drive about 40 miles north you can vist Homestead Heritage. A great group of folks that do some fantastic woodworking amongst other stuff. Most done with handtools but they do use machines where appropriate.
