>Dinyar, this is an ancient softwood species with very little figure. It's relatively soft...about as dense as aspen and it has exceptionally fine texture...so it turns pretty well. It often produces bright yellow streaks in the heartwood, which adds some interest, but otherwise it is rather bland in appearance.

>As Jon said, ginko is pretty soft but turns easily. I made this bowl about a year ago. It's 8" x 5.5", and the bark has stayed on. The cambium layer just wouldn't cut cleanly until it dried out a bit. What shows as pink in the photo is really just a darker shade of yellow.
