With the smallness of the baase, I don't think that having the red on the bottom will make it too bottom heavy. If I were doing this kind of turning, I would want to try one with the red on the bottom. As it is, the piece is beatuiful. Thanks for sharing with the rest of us.

Took me a while to think about these question, though I am sure the answers will disappoint - I am not all that introspective.

1) What do I like about it?

I love the color contrast between Yellowheart and Bloodwood. I use them alot as a result - maybe too much.

Yes, so much so that I am going to do it again.

There are a couple of joints in the Yellowheart that I wish I could do over, or would have noticed earlier. Since Orlando, my joint standards have gone way up. When Bud Latven and Kurt Theobald critiqued my bowls, they gave me very favorable comments on the design, shape, wood combinations, finish and execution. But both pointed out joints that they believed were unacceptable. As a result my methods have changed and quality is way up.
