I recently perchaces some 1 1/8th by 8tpi nuts and some large washers thinking I would weld up a couple of faceplates for my Oliver. I was very dissapointed when the nuts didn't quite fit the spindle threads. How sure are we that these old olivers are 8tpi? If I could find some nuts I'd be happy to weld up a few extra and send them your way.

The Oliver faceplates that I have threaded right on to the spindle so they must be the same thread.

I'm sure that mine, at least, is 8 TPI. I have the benefit of a full service metal shop in the building where I work. Furthermore, the shop manager is one of my best friends. Bottom line, I got a tooth guage from him and measured the spindle. Sure enough, 8 TPI.

He has since made a couple of adapters for me on a Hurco milling center.

I worry that I am leaning on him too much and would prefer to locate adapters (of any sort) from another source.

Your offer is most appreciated, but my buddy can fab up anything I need if I really need it in a hurry.

Maybe if you're not in a huge rush, I can get him to mill up a faceplate for outboard turning for you. No guarantees, but I'll try. What size are you after?
