>I bought this burl in Orlando. It measures 36" tip to tip. I turned it to a thickness of 3/8". Wings were difficult to turn because I could not use a steady due to the shape. I had to depend on centrifugal force to hold the wings so I could cut them once they were about 3/4" in thickness. I am still working on the finish so I do not know if I will make it sating or gloss but I am thinking satin. Thanks for looking.

Absolutely gorgeous... I am having a hard enough time trying to get a decent bowl turned without playing with that....

I think I'd go with Satin too.

I'd go with satin, especially if there is any undulation to the turned surfaces due to flexure in the wood.
