The top rim is about 2-3 times the thickness of the bowl, runs paralel to the base but is concave on the top of the lip and contours to the thickness of the bowl on the inside.

Are you saying the rim is started from the inside diameter and then goes out in a concave arc to meet the outer surface of the bowl at approx 3 times the thickness of the wall?

Is the inner rim undercut?Chances of pics?

If you can picture a bowl with the outside curve is just as you posted in the top picture. Now the top rim is about 3 times the thickness of the bowl and has a gentle concaveness to it. The inner pert of the rim curves into the actual thickness of the bowl.

I personally like the first over the second. I think you can get a sharper finished edge and give the shallow bowl a very squared feeling where if you go with the second or an angled rim, It will feel more rounded. Of course what do I know?

Think of taking a sphere and cutting off the bottom third. How will the edge look?

Of course, If you want to go against the grain a little, you can always try the second one and if you don't like it, go to the first.
