There was/is a lot of R&D in the making of these pens.The first one I made came out perfect.It took 3 more tries(blow-outs) to get another keeper.

Not every cob it a turner.

I haven't tried but have been told that cooked cobs won't work.

>Cooked cobs will not work at all... the cooking softens the cobs too much and trying to dry them only attracks flies by the millions..LOL

If you are not in farm country like I am, your best bet is to go to a pet supply shop and buy the dried corn they sell for feeding squirrels (tree rats around here, LOL).. just shuck the kernels off and you have a turning cob...
