Information on Nova 3K with 1 hp motor

Craig Smith

>I am afraid this message may not be of general interest, but I recently acquired a used Nova 3000 with 1 hp AC Leeson motor (burgandy colored). The previous owner was in the process of attempting to install a drum rotary switch so he could make the lathe reversable. It doesn't work. I would like to properly and safely wire a switch, but cannot locate the motor wiring diagram. Is there anyone who can shed some light on this, or better still might be able to scan and send me a wiring diagram for this motor?

Thanks

>I don't know if that motor is reversible or not. Unplug the motor from AC outlet and where the cord goes into the motor that is a panel or box that can be removed with couple of screws. Inside there is where they usually hide the wiring schematic. If the motor is not reversible there may not be a schematic there because there is only couple of connections.

Other thing you can do is call Woodcraft technical staff and they can tell you as they sold those machines and motors.

Also, Teknatool has a web site with lots of information on it but I don't have the link handy. If you need it, I can find it, let me know.

>Thanks Don -

I tried the obvious things already... The motor has six wires coming from it. It can be wired as either 110 or 220. The plate over the connection box is missing, so if the label was there, I don't have it. Teknatool has a good website, but since they didn't put the motor on the lathe, they don't have information on it. I am contacting a fellow from Woodcraft who may be able to help, but what I was really hoping was that someone might just have the diagram easily available and and could scan it.

Thanks again for your suggestions.
