Well after many pens and a few worn pair of Quick Grips I finally decided to see what all the fuss was about a pen press. Last week I went on a road trip with my good friend Bill MacDonald and we checked out the Rockler in Buffalo and then the Woodcraft in Rochester. While at the Woodcraft store I spoke with Mike who is also a pen turner. Mike showed me how they worked and gave me some great advice on pen turning...and that press followed me home. Today I used it for the first time to assemble a few whistle key chains, all I can say is WOW is that easy or what...looks like I have a new favorite tool in my shop!

I reposted the link in another forum and s few have ordered/received theirs.THeir reviews are the same as Freds.

I got a visit from the OOPS man(ups) thursday and all he had was a box with a hole in the bottom.

You might want to consider returning yours,not just for the savings, the Grizzly unit was touted as a good tool for the purpose of pressing pens together.

I have been using a Bessy 12" cabinet clamp but am tired of the small handle,

The Grizz unit weighs about 20 though their shipping weight states 40

>I found that my drill press makes a good press to assemble any kit I want. It's quick, does a great job and I didn't have to buy another toy! I use the head of a large bolt in the chuck to provide a little more surface area to press the parts together.
