Ebonizing
Ed Hangfire
>I have been trying to ebonize a Bradford Pear box using the steel wool & vinegar solution. A fellow club member has had great success with this on his Bradford Pear. My success has been dismal. After 3 days, there is no sign that I put any solution on the box and I saturated it well. The solution was made with a #0000 steel wool pad (new) in a pint of white vinegar. My understanding is that it should disolve the steel wool in a couple days. Mine hasn't disolved in a week. The vinegar is new. I have thrown out the first batch and used another bottle of vinegar just in case (new steel wool also). Same results. Same thing the club member is doing but his turns out a beautiful black/blue.
Any ideas out there?
Thanks.
