>Just be careful when opening the bags - that sudden ride through the DC, while seriously disorienting, is probably not fatal to the insects. If the ductwork is of any reasonable length, they probably won't be able to fly out again, but could likely survive quite a while inside the bags of a DC. On the other hand, it sounds like a good way of dealing with that which bugs you.

Last month SWMBO and I were hard at work remodelling the bathroom. Part of that involved stripping acres of paint on the 18" deep windowsills. We had the windows out and the fan on for fumes, and loads of flies were swarming about the room. I had no end of fun flicking on the torch with its instant on pizeo electric chip and frying flies in midair. They just crumpled and fell to the floor. It worked pretty good on a couple of wasps which found their way in as well.

There was a guy in Winsted Ct.(my home state) that made a bug catcher for his chickens.

He used a squirrel cage fan with a light in front of the opening.On the discharge end he tied one of his wifes nylon stockings.He would turn the contraption on at night and in the morning he'd feed the contents to his chickens.

High protein breakfast.
