bugs in paper birch

>hey every one!
I rough turned a few bowls out of birch and coated them. I returned the next day to find tiny black bugs had come out of their little black stained holes. The wood looks realy cool. Any one know what kind of bugs these might be ?

>Sounds like one of two (entomologists please intervene), Powder Post or Ambrosia beetles.
Ambrosias will leave the wood when mature and not return; the wood is usable.
Powder Posts will return (or never leave) and continue their function of turning the wood into powder.
Option 1: turn and enjoy.
Option 2: isolate it from any wood you'd like to keep (like your house) and burn it.
That's a best guess based upon severely limited knowledge and experience; your bugs may vary.
