>Tom, looks nice! Have you considered adding some "pop" to the figure by treating it with dye and then lightly sanding? Where the figure changes density the dye is absorbed in different amounts and a light sanding removes some but not others, resulting in grain patterns that are even more dramatic than mother nature provided. Not totally sure this would be a great idea for something dyed that would be held in a hand, as when the finish wears off it might wind up on the fingers. If it is an alcohol based dye though, it may not.
Oh what do I know, just a thought. Nice work.

>Actually Mike, I have considered that... I have a sample kit of the Chestnut dyes.. was thinking about yellow dye and then sanding lightly.. with the finish I use I doubt that it would come off..
I might have to try that on a partly turned blank to see how it looks... can always turn away the dyed part if I don't like it...
