Well I'll be damned /gloat (cool!)

Mike Schwing from Maryland

>A self-identified "collector" has approached me about purchasing my work after seeing pictures on the AAW site I responded with a number and it was accepted. It was not a low number.

My jaw is hitting the floor as I type. Really cool.

I've sold lots of flat work, and a bunch of salad bowls, but no hollow stuff until, and certainly not unsolicited.

Thanks for letting me gloat (and for helping me get to this point)

Mike Schwing from Maryland

>He told me of others' work he has collected, and I asked him to make sure mine sits no where theirs! Oh my gosh, the names on that list... Wayne's World "we're not worthy!" comes to mind.

What a neat thing. I am flattered beyond my ability to express myself.

>Gaw'd Mike

So all you have to do is

1. suffer through a delta lathe,

2. pull the trigger on a Powermatic,

3. turn about 2000 pieces,

4. show your stuff all over the Internet,

5. take constructive critique

6. invest your time and energies in harvesting wood

7....

To be honest Mike, I wonder why you haven't had many other offers. No doubt you will be doing this more often.

Congratulations.

Richard

I told you so :-) . . .

Tom Sweeney - Coatesville, PA

>Mike I think your work is probably equal to or better than just about anyone elses out there. Over the last couple of months you've posted some pieces that are really spectacular. Sure maybe there are a handfull of people that are at the next level above you but it's kinda like running an Ironman (or insert your best accomplishment here). Maybe you don't come in first but you're still an Ironman & how many people can say that?

I think you are definately ready to start selling your work, for good money too, & this just proves the point.

Major Congrats to you.

>That's great Mike, You have been producing some wonderful work the last few months. It is great to make pieces to satisfy yourself, but it is really something when someone puts down their hard earned dollars to purchase them.

Way to go!!
