>Keep your eyes open for sales of school shop equipment. Our system jsut sold a bunch of stuff. Also, every big city seems to have at least one business that refurbishes old equipment. I'd suggest looking there if you can find such an enterprise.

>Most of the old iron has a 12" swing or less and toolrest heights that do not work well when turning bowls. I have seen outboard attachments mounted to a Powermatic 90 which had a jackshaft to slow it down further and that made it a pretty good lathe. I would rather have this combination than a lot of the imported machines. The imports just aren't heavy enough in the toolrest area for any aggressive turning. I just sold a PM90 for $800 and I have seen others sell in that ballpark. Check Ebay.

You can also try Bath Industrial for used equipment.
