Broken belt, mini lathe *LINK*

>I have a 1994 10" Reliant Mini lathe, that was made in Taiwan, model DD70. It has a round belt fitted onto the stepped pulleys and it just broke and I can't seem to find another to replace it. Does anyone have a lead how I can obtain another. It looks like it is made of a stiff plastic-like material, and I don't think a rubber one like a vaccuum cleaner belt would work very well. Thanks in advance............Roly

>Hi Roly, I made a similar belt for my Carbatec knockoff by using spline material used for aluminum window frames. Use a lap joint, not a butt with superglue. Butyl O rings have been suggested. You might try sewing machine, key cutter and appliance repair shops. HTH, Arch
