Club usefulness
John Lucas
>I just visited the Smokey Mountain Woodturners. I went there about a year ago to give a demo when they moved the club from Gatlinburg to Woodcraft in KNoxville. There were a bunch of excited turners and some crude pieces on the table.
In the last year the club has grown and so has the quality of work. No more screw holes in the bottom, finishes, especially sanding was far better. There were some really exciting pieces by people willing to really look at the wood and think about what they are doing.
You could tell there was a lot of commraderie. It was fun. This just confirms in my mind the usefulness of the clubs and the AAW. You could easily see the knowledge that was shared and could tell that they had made new friends.
