Can the Nova be vacuum chucked? What's the price?

Why would you want the Jet mini/midi lathe if you had the larger Jet. The larger Jet can do pens, can't it?

In my case I turn for a living and when I'm doing multiple spindle work jobs on the VL100 [pens, bottle stoppers, goblets, etc. I get board/fed up after a while. I then go turn some one offs for myself on the VL300 and can leave the other lathe set up to go back to later. I also make wooden handles for Torah scrolls if you're familiar with those and I utilize both [but not at the same time =o) ]. If you're just starting out, and want to emphasis bowls then get the large Jet and use the change for tools and/or chucks.

>Yes the Nova handwheel does have a fitting from Technatool that is seated in a bearing and allows one to attacha vacuum hose to it...I use reinforced 1" hose to my pump and it works great. About$26 I think for the fitting but you could make one a bit less expensively...I second the opinion on the Nova. Does everyting needed and then some. With the outboard unit I have turned a 21" + bowl with no problem and little skill. Darryl

>...is why I have both. Yes, the 1442 will turn everything I do, and then you have an excellent lathe for about 700 bucks,butto make things easy and convenient I added the 1014 and use it for pens, bottle stoppers, tops, ya-yas, etc, and keep the 1442 set up for bowls and platters.
