>I would like to buy a new lathe and I was looking at Penn States site and I saw two lathes. I want to turn boxes, christmas ornaments, bowels, goblets etc... noting real large. The two lathes that I am looking at are "Turncraft Pro Midi" and the "14" Jet Mini Lathe II". what is the difference in the two lathes they appear to be the same except that the Jet has a 6th speed and is only 14" between centers and the cost is more. For what I want to turn will the "Turncraft" do the job?

I have a "Rand" 4-speed mini lathe that is 21" between centers and it seems to buckle on me and it's just not comfortable to run if you know what I mean. Help!

>Georganne: I have seen them in their catalog. You probably already know they both come from China. They are built to different specs, but probably in the same factory.

The only problem I see with the Pencrafter is PARTS. I know I can get parts for my JET very quickly! Getting parts for the Pencrafter might take a long time. That is why I went with JET.

Just my opinion !
